Daniela and Case were gracious enough to model for us during our mentoring session in Phoenix, AZ. They were SO MUCH FUN!! Seriously, we had them out in the middle of the desert, then had them tag along to the Scottsdale airport for some more pictures. They were upbeat, stylin’, funny and very photogenic!! OK, so after the formal pictures were done at Firesky in Scottsdale, my second-shooter, Jeanette, and the wedding party hopped on the party bus to Inspirador. Jeanette captured some awesome moments on the bus, looks like a BLAST!!

Once we got to the venue, it was BEAUTIFUL!!! I LOVED Andrea and Craig’s colors!! The fun thing about shooting with two photographers are the different perspectives we get when looking at a certain object. The cake is a GREAT example! The image on the left is Jeanette’s, which was probably shot with her wide-angle lens. The image on the right is mine and was shot with my 85mm lens. Two different looks, I LOVE it!

Inspirador Wedding Photographer…Andrea and Craig (PART 1)

About a week and a half ago I went back to Phoenix to shoot the wedding of Andrea and Craig. I have so many awesome things to say about this couple…they are kind, so much in-love, flippin’ hilarious, made for each other and down-right rad people. I was so thankful to be a part of their special day!

I met Andrea at a Phoenix Bridal Fair about 2+ years ago and she actually nannied for one of my good friends in Spokane, WA. I am so glad she came up and introduced herself!! She now works at Inspirador, so brides, if you need a wedding venue in the Phoenix area, give her a jingle, you’ll be in good hands!

There were so many fun pictures in this wedding, I had to make it a two-parter. Part two will be bus ride (won’t want to miss these pics), ceremony and reception. Here are the awesome vendors who made Andrea and Craig’s day go off without a hitch:

Denver Wedding Photographer | The Set-Up

First of all, congrats to Holly Clouse for winning my $10 Starbucks gift card just for leaving a comment on my last blog post. Fun fun!

These are a couple set-up shots from a wedding I did back in May in Phoenix, AZ. My second-shooter for the day, the ever-so-fabulous Jeanette, took a snapshot of me and what my set-up was for a few formal images and I did the same in return. Both of us were set up in the same location, she was behind the couple, but up on the first floor of the hotel. Amazing what two totally different angles can do to an image.

Here is the first image of me getting a very formal, straight-on picture:

Here is the second image of Jeanette on the first floor, shooting down a the couple (same location as where I was). This resulting image isn’t the EXACT same as the set-up shot, but she asked them to kiss shortly after.

Having a second-shooter is an absolute must for me when I shoot weddings. The variety of images and compositions for two sets of artists is amazing and it most definitely benefits each bride in getting some different points-of-view. Thanks Jeanette!!

Villa Siena Wedding Photographer | Mike and Lora…MARRIED!!

Last weekend I had the great pleasure of photographing Mike and Lora’s wedding at Villa Siena in Gilbert, AZ. In the two years that I lived in Phoenix, I had always wanted to shoot at this location, so I was beyond thrilled when they told me their venue. It is based on a quaint town square in Sienna Italy and is just beautiful! Mike and Lora are two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet…they have a beautiful family and the ceremony was awesome…lots of GREAT music, worship and love! So, last weekend, we shot the beautiful wedding of Trevor and Lindsay. One of my second shooters, Ashley, decided to take a few shots of me at work. It was fun seeing all the shots she got…I don’t have many of these, so I thought I would add a few captions so you know what I was thinking while working. Lol!!

Trilogy at Vistancia Wedding Photographer | Lindsay and Trevor…MARRIED!!

I met Lindsay and Trevor about 5 days before I gave birth to my now 13 month-old son, Easton. We have gotten to know each other over the past year, starting with a fabulous engagement session in Sedona, which can be found HERE and HERE. Lindsay and Trevor were the beautiful models for my Promo Video, which was shot during their engagement session. I really can’t say enough about these two…they are beautiful, inside and out, and I am truly thankful that I was a part of their special day. They have a loving, supportive and fantastic family, which made us all feel right at home. I wish you ALL THE BEST on your life-long journey of love, friendship and laughter. You two are wonderful and I hope you have a super-fab time in FIJI!! On with the sneak peek.

Behind the Scenes | Phoenix Wedding and Engagement Photographer

A few months back, me and the crew headed up to Sedona to shoot Lindsay and Trevor’s engagement session. Not only was it an engagement shoot, but it was also a video shoot for my promo video which will launch early next year. Jim, from Beautiful Day Films, made the trek up to Sedona with us crazy ladies. Also along for the ride was my talented and beautiful associate photographer, Janet. Lindsay and Trevor were troopers…not only did we shoot for nearly 3 hours, but they had both a still camera and a video camera in their mugs the entire time. THANK GUYS!! Goodbye Phoenix, hello DENVER!!! | Denver Wedding and Portrait Photographer

Well, it is almost time to pack up the ‘ole computer and say hello to our new destination…DENVER, Colorado!! I grew up singing about Colorado (thank you John Denver), but have never lived there, or even visited for that matter. We are making the trek up north because of a job change with my husband. We are super excited for our new adventure, but sad to leave all the great people we have come to call some of our closest friends. Not only did we make great friends, but I have an awesome network of photographers and vendors that I love dearly! Thank you all for your support, it means the world to me! I have a pretty full wedding schedule for 2010, so I will continue to do business in Phoenix, so, keep calling me brides! I have already met some wonderful photogs up in Denver, so I am excited to meet you all come January!

I have some exciting things on the horizon, one of which is my promo video, which will be out soon, so keep an eye out. The blog will be VERY slow over the next few weeks as we celebrate Christmas, move to Denver, and shoot a wedding up in Washington State.

CLIENTS: As a reminder, our last day in Phoenix is December 21st, so all orders need to be placed by Wednesday, the 16th to ensure that everything arrives before we leave.

Rebekah + Conrad, hitched! | Phoenix (Florence, AZ) Wedding Photographer

Wow! What a spectacular wedding. I have to say, Rebekah and crew did an AMAZING job planning their wedding. The details were wonderful and so thought-out! Rebekah and Conrad were a BLAST to work with, so caring and fun! They got married a couple Sunday’s ago at the Florence Farm Nursery in Florence, AZ. It was a beautiful day and everything was right on-time! Rebekah and Conrad opted to see each other before the ceremony, so we had plenty of time to get some killer pictures! As mentioned before, the attention to details was spectacular…there was a beautiful cake-topper, a donkey, some lawn-games, a RAD band, mason jars for drinking, old-school soda pop, and a perfect setting! Katie, the coordinator at The Farm did a super job keeping everything running smoothly! I hope you two had an awesome honeymoon, enjoy the pictures!!

Katie and Jake Family/Bridal Session | Phoenix Wedding Photographer

Katie and Jake were married about a week ago at the San Diego Courthouse. Vickie, Katie’s mom, wanted to set up a family/bridal session, while they were both in town for Thanksgiving, since they were unable to get their picture taken on their wedding day. What a GREAT idea!! We took pictures up near Arrowhead Golf Course at a beautiful and quaint waterfall area. The grass was green, the waterfalls were awesome and the flowers were BEAUTIFUL…so bright and cheery! We quickly found out this was a popular spot after running into two sets of photographers throughout the shoot. Katie and Jake were AWESOME…willing to do anything (as you can tell from the street photos) and so easy to work with. You are such a FUN family and I had a blast meeting you all, reminded me a little of home. Hope you enjoy the sneak peek!!

Happy 1 Year Anniversary E & J!!! | Phoenix Photographer

My oh my, has it really already been a year?? I photographed Emily and Jake’s wedding over one year ago and they called to ask for a 1 year anniversary shoot. OF COURSE!! These two are awesome! It was so good to re-connect and to hear what they have been up to, not to mention they are looking super-fab!! We ventured out on Sunday for a little over and hour and got some stunning pictures of the two little love birds! We had a great time…I tell ya, next time I have a model shoot, these two are on the top of my list. Enjoy the BIG sneak peek everyone!!

A Tee-Box Wedding | Phoenix Wedding Photographer

This past week, at The Phoenician, Mary and David were re-wed at the top of an elevated tee-box, HOW COOL IS THAT!! My husband and I are big golfers so when I heard they were getting married up there, I was totally pumped. Paige, Event Coordinator at The Phoenician, also told me that The Phoenician will also cater a 5-course dinner up there. If you could see the trek up there in person, I have NO IDEA how they get the food up there. Too fun. Anyhow, Mary and David were re-married on their original wedding date and last Friday was a spectacular day. The weather was overcast, which makes for some beautiful photos and the view was just stunning.

My featured vendor of the week is the beautiful and talented Holli, President of Kensington Makeup Artists LLC. I have met and chatted with Holli at a couple vendor events around town and she is just about the nicest person in the world. 1. Tell us a little about yourself, maybe something that would be a surprise to everyone…

I have a masters degree in Neuroscience from King’s College London University, UK … worked at AMGEN as a Research Scientist for six months … was laid off and decided to skrew working in a cubicle all togther and become a makeup artist. I completed my beauty makeup and studio hair styling certification at the Makeup Designory in Burbank, CA. I then decided to start a bridal makeup artistry company.
I chose the name Kensington after my time spent in London.

2. What has been your biggest accomplishment to date (personal or business)?

In one year, from officially starting my business in Phoenix, I went from a company of one to a staff of 30+ and two regional locations.

4. Do you have a funny or crazy story that readers would like to hear about?

People always ask me if I have any crazy wedding stories … I didnt have any, until recently…

1) A few weeks ago, My team and I completed hair and makeup for a bridal party of 12 … we recently received an email from the bride saying that when they were taking pictures on the golf course, the sprinklers went on and soaked everyone! It breaks my heart to think about the extent of damage that caused….

2) I was finishing up a bridal hair and makeup trial … when all of a sudden the bride’s mother jumped in my way and proceeded to tear apart my work, saying “I show you” … I was both taken by surpise and confused, but maintained my cool while she messed around with the hair. I must have made styling look easy, because she shortly retreated and asked me for help… I just felt bad for the bride, she looked mortified as she was happy with the orignal style.
Oh mom!

5. Why did you decide to start your own biz and what is on the horizon for the business?

When I was in makeup school, my teacher told us that the bridal industry is a great industry to get into if you can be business savvy. I took on that challenge by starting to think as big as I could and work my way backwards. Everyday my BHAGs (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) get bigger as I continually look at ways to grow my business. My future vision for my company is to be a nationwide company, with a cosmetic line to compliment.
We recently launched San Diego… and we are looking to expand north up to Los Angeles begining of 2010. From there we will use the business systems we have created to swiftly expand from one coast to the other … and eventually across the pond to London.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day last weekend, which was when Tasha and Kevin were married. They got married at a spectacular private residence in the North Scottsdale area. A few months ago, a photog friend of mine, Shelly of Ivy Studios, was looking for second shooter for an October wedding of theirs. It happened to work out that it was the only free date I had available in the fall, so I jumped at the opportunity to shoot with them. I had mentioned this before, but second-shooting is a blast. Not only do I get to take some fun pics with the guys (which I rarely do), but I get to network with RAD photographers! Thanks Shelly for inviting me to shoot one of your weddings!!

Heather and Aksel got married at the beautiful Phoenix Country Club in the central Phoenix area. It was an awesome property, I really wanted to go golfing. Not only did they get married, but their parents re-newed their vows at a special ceremony during the reception. It was quite touching! As mentioned above, I got to hang out with the fellas for most of the evening, so here are a few shots of them, plus a few from the wedding. Enjoy!
