Me and the boys headed to NOLA last week to have a quick visit w/ the Gleason’s. The last time we came to New Orleans was two years ago, about a month after Rivers was born…not only do my boys look young in this post, but Rivers is so tiny! To this day, Ryland and Easton still call him “baby Rivers”.
The boys and I had such a good time catching up with Steve, Michel and Rivers!
The day started out with a quick trip to Cafe Du Monde and a tourist pic in front of “Princess Tiana’s Castle”.
After a quick walk though the French Quarter, we headed to Steve and Michel’s house to visit. Steve was slated to get a new computer installed, so Michel’s brother, Paul, and his wife, Hilary, and their kiddos came over for a bit. Ryland and Easton had a blast playing with all the kiddos!
The next day we headed to Storyland, which is located in New Orleans City Park. Little Miss CoCo (Paul and Hilary’s youngest) joined us for the adventure…her and Rivers are like two peas in a pod! After Storyland, we headed over to the snack area for some hot dogs and beignets!! YUM-O!!!
YEAH!! We got to the see the Rebirth statue! This statue was erected to honor Steve and the significance of his blocked punt again the Falcons in 2006. It was more than just a blocked punt…it meant that New Orleans was BACK after the tragic Hurricane Katrina!Later that evening we gave the boys a choice of Haunted Ghost Tour or the NOLA Pelicans vs. Lakers bball game. Well, the ghost tour won out…the kids were SO enthralled of the stories that plagued the history of New Orleans. I am surprised they slept that evening. :-)
Since Rivers was napping, we decided to hit up the new City Park mini-golf course…it was FABULOUS! We learned a lot about NOLA along our way! Before we took off for Dallas, we headed over to the Gleason’s house one last time to hang out with the family. River, Ryland and Easton built one heck of a train track, then Rivers thought it was time to fix dad’s chair. Another game Steve and Rivers played was “lets open and shut the front door while I run in and out of the house”…it was quite entertaining!Rivers has this new found love of tackle-football. For about an hour he decided my boys should be tackled. Below is a shot of Rivers taking down Ryland. Ha! This might be one of my favorite pictures…Easton and Rivers wanted to see the chickens that were next door…Easton bent down and put his hands on his knees. Rivers took one look at Easton and did the exact same thing…SO CUTE!!!Thanks again for an amazing visit! So good to see everyone! Next time we won’t wait so long in between visits! Love to you all!! No White Flags!!
