FAQ’s

How do I choose a wedding photographer?

Several things should help you decide on whom you choose for your wedding. You must love the style of his or her work foremost and who is able to tell the story of your day in the way that you want. However this is of no use if you are not able to forge a relationship with the photographer, you will be spending many hours with this person and to get the best pictures you need to build a rapport. Would you, in the course of your social life, ?nd that you would be friends with this person – if the answer is YES then you are probably going to get the right person for the job.

What if we cancel our wedding?

In most cases any retainer or deposit paid by you to book the date will be lost. Sometimes if the wedding date is close – all monies paid will be lost.  Please re-read your photography contract to see what happens in the case of a cancellation. Sometimes a photographer will offer to refund some of the money if the date can be rebooked by them.

Why do prices vary between wedding photographers?

There are many reasons prices vary between photographers.  One, years in business.  A person who has been photographing weddings for years will have higher price than someone who is just starting out.  Part-time photographers can afford to charge less as they do not depend on the money to pay the bills.  The time you are paying for is not just for the day itself – but for all the hours afterwards processing and designing your album.  It takes an average of 4-6 weeks for all wedding images to be processed, which is over a months worth of work for one photographer.

What if our photographer is ill on the day?

Personally, it is very rare (actually had never happened) that both the main photographer and second-shooter are sick.  However, if this was the case, I have a list of talented and reliable photographers who will cover in the event of sickness.

Can our friends to take pictures at the wedding?

This is an exciting day for friends and family of the bride and groom and most will have a camera with them. Photographers usually welcome this as it provides different opportunities for unusual coverage. The only time a photographer will complain is if guests get in the way of important shots – like the processional down the aisle. Other people taking pictures during formals can slow the process down by getting guests to look away whilst the professional is trying to get those all important groups.

Do I get the copyrights to my wedding images?

Copyright will always remain in the hands of the photographer and is something that never should be given away.  However, all wedding packages include a PRINT RELEASE, which allows the bride and groom to print any picture on their own.  Reputable printers will be recommended to the bride and groom in order to get the best color match.

Do you charge to travel?

Any wedding within a 1 hour drive of Denver will incur no travel fees…this includes areas like Boulder, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs.  A travel fee will incur if driving time is more than 1 hour.  Several mountain resorts will have a travel fee.  Any wedding outside of the state of Colorado will have a flat fee of $500.00 for travel expenses (this excludes Hawaii).

When is my remaining balance due?

A payment schedule is located on your wedding contract.  Please refer to your contract for specific dates.

When should I expect to receive my wedding images?

Wedding images will go online 4-6 weeks after your wedding.

How many images do I get?

Typically, I pass on between 300-600 fully-edited proofs.  The number will vary depending on how long I am photographing your event.
