D’Evelyn High School Senior Photographer…Erin!

Erin was an absolute pleasure to photograph. She is an excellent student at D’Evelyn High and is also a budding photographer, so it was fun to break out some newly gifted photo props I got from my Aunt Patti.

We started the evening at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, CO and ended up shooting down by the river in downtown Golden. Erin is a natural in front of the camera…she totally rallied, too, since she was a little under-the-weather with a sore throat. Erin, I wish you all the best in your upcoming senior year and will continue to follow your photography!!

Ponderosa High School Senior Photographer…Marina!

Marina was an absolute joy to photograph and a natural in front the of camera! She attends Ponderosa High School, in Parker, CO, where she excels in every subject. She loves to golf (YEAH!) and would love to get into modeling, which in my opinion, she would do AMAZING at!

Erie High School Senior Photographer…Nicole!

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Nicole for her Class of 2012 senior pictures! She was an absolute joy to photograph!! She is an all-star athlete at her school, Erie H.S., and is also an excellent student. We took pictures out at her parents property in Longmont, which was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!

I loved all the different places, textures and background we found around their home, what a fun time! Nicole, I wish you ALL THE BEST for your senior year, you’ll rock it girl! Enjoy the sneak peek!

Denver, CO Senior Photographer…Isaiah and Alvaro

Last week I met up with Isaiah and Alvaro for their Denver senior picture session. I actually was contacted by a former client of mine, T.J., asking for me to photograph his son for his senior pictures. I had an absolute blast meeting these two young men, they were so much fun to photograph and were naturals in front of the camera.

Isaiah goes to The Denver Academy and Alvaro goes to Aurora Central High School. Although they attend different high schools, they remain close friends. I think they have a future in modeling! :-)

On Sunday about 50 photographers ventured out to Golden, CO for the annual K.I.S.S. event with Professional Photographer of Colorado. I was able to lead a few groups and do a talk on Marketing throughout the day-long workshop.

We shot at the Railroad Museum and also a bit in the town of Golden. Everyone had a great time…thank you to all our models who braved the weather and did a FABULOUS job!!

Last week I photographed Zack for his senior pictures. Zack is a very ambitious and smart young man! He takes some tough classes at school and plans on going to college to be a defense lawyer! Awesome! We had a great time taking pictures in the downtown area, he is very photogenic and had some fabulous ideas for his pictures. Here are some of my faves!

Parker, CO Senior Photographer…Alex

These actually weren’t taken in Parker (the palm trees might be throwin’ you off). Before Lauren and Rob’s wedding (previous posts), I met up with Alex for about 30-45 min for a quick senior session at Wilson Creek Winery. Alex is my cousin’s son, would that make him my second cousin?

He is a character! Awesome personality, easy-going, and funny! Here are a few quick shots of Mr. Alex!!

Ok, a little slacking on my part to get these pictures up! About 2 months ago (yes, two months ago), I had the great pleasure of co-leading a group of local photographers for the annual K.I.S.S. Senior Shoot-out that is sponsored by Professional Photographers of Colorado. PPC is a GREAT way for photographers to learn photography and talk-shop with their colleagues.

The K.I.S.S. Shoot-out is an all-day event where about 60 photographers were able to shoot different senior models and learn different posing and lighting techniques. We had a great group of about 5 photographers, which made it very easy to get some awesome shots! Thank you to all the wonderful models who smiled and posed all-day long!! Below are a few storyboards of some of the models I shot throughout the day!

Denver Senior Photographer…Cory!

Disclaimer: Athough Cory isn’t technically one of my 2011 seniors, I wanted her post to show up in a Google search or under my senior category, hence the title. :-)

Cory was our uber fabulous model for the mentoring session that I conducted last week. She and her boyfriend, Drake, were so wonderful to work with! Very professional and totally knew how to work the camera. Denver photogs, if you want to hire Cory for a shoot, just let me know and I can send you her contact info.

Parker, CO Senior Photographer…Amanda!

I had the awesome pleasure of meeting Amanda and her mom at the Chaparral High School photo fair, which was held in May. Amanda was accepted into the Crew Member program, which gives seniors lots of freebies in exchange for some word-of-mouth advertising.

We met up last week in Parker, CO to take her senior pics and had an absolute blast!! Amanda has such a fun and outgoing personality, not to mention, she can totally work the camera! I wish her all the best in her upcoming senior year, you’ll do great, girl!!

Denver Senior Picture Photographer | Mini Accordion Albums

First of all, sorry for the less-than-stellar product shots! Anyhow, these are mini accordion albums, that were printed though WHCC. They come in a set of 3, in either a wallet size or a 3 x 3 square size. The templates were also purchased through the WHCC’s FOCUSED area, which is where designers sell their templates to photographers. The mini accordion albums are FREE for any senior who is accepted into my Studio 4 Eleven Crew Member Program. They have a magnetic closure and are perfect for carrying around in your purse to show all your friends and family your senior pictures!

Top Five Things You Didn’t Know About Wedding Day Beauty. . .

1. Makeup appears totally different in photographs. Your everyday foundation, natural-looking in person, can look washed out or (eek) tired in your photos. Some shimmers in makeup can change a completely different color through the lens, turning your copper lip gloss to orange, or your lavender eye shadow to green.

2. Living in Colorado, we are used to slathering on the sunscreen before heading outdoors. A sunscreen’s purpose is to deflect the sun’s light from hitting your face. . . And unfortunately it can do the same thing to a camera flash. Certain sunscreens will bounce-back the light to the camera, causing your face to look ghostly when compared to your body. The same goes for the sunscreens in mineral makeup too.

3. Your wedding day will seem to go by in a snap, but in reality it is a long day! Your makeup needs to last, but not looked caked on. A primer and translucent setting powder will keep your foundation is place through all the dancing, and a lip stain won’t come off on your champagne glass.

4. Are you taking some of your photos in black and white? Be sure that your cheek color isn’t darker in level than your skin tone. Otherwise the blush will look grey in pictures, making cheeks appear sunken-in. Yikes!

5. DIY is not necessarily a money saver when it comes to wedding day beauty. By the time you’ve purchased HD formulas of concealer, foundation, primer & powder, water-proof mascara, liner & shadow, and the perfect shades of highlighter, contour, bronzer & blush, you’ve spent much more than the cost of hiring a professional. And that’s before even thinking about your lips. . .

A professional makeup artist can dial up your look a few notches for the camera, while keeping you looking like yourself for your guests. She can choose the right formulas and colors for your look to last, without the cost of buying them. She’ll consider the lighting, location, mood, and colors of the event, right down to your bouquet. Best of all, she’ll do a trial well before the big day, where she can show you different options. When you put your stamp of approval on your favorite look, she’ll come to you on your wedding day, and you
can relax, knowing exactly what you’ll look like. No stress, no worry.

Phoenix Photography Mentoring | Models Courtney and Rekia!

During Kelly’s mentoring session, we had an afternoon model shoot with the beautiful Courtney and Rekia. Both of them were very professional and not to mention, BEAUTIFUL!! We shot in a location that you normally would not choose to shot in, so it was a fun challenge to see what we could come up with. So, part of my mentoring sessions include a live model shoot in the afternoon. Both Whitney and Adrianna drove down from Fort Collins to model for Julianna’s mentoring session last weekend. Mentoring Program | Keri Doolittle Photography

First of all, I am sooooo excited to be offering a Mentoring Program. I was a teacher in my former life an I just love to talk about photography! To give you a quick overview, the first half of the day focuses more on the business side of photography. We talk about SEO, marketing, branding, pricing, networking, etc. The second half of the day focuses on your images. We do a live model shoot, work on Photoshop/Lightroom and you even get to jump in front of the camera for some new profile pictures! Fun Fun!! Thank you to everyone who has already signed up…we are going to have a GREAT time and you will learn lots!! Each participant gets a mentoring packet filled with everything we covered from the day (picture below).

PHOENIX and surrounding areas: My last wedding of the spring is on May 8th, so if you want to sign up for a mentoring session, that would be a GREAT weekend!

SPOKANE and surrounding areas: My first summer wedding is on June 19th, so if you want to sign up, this would also be a GREAT weekend!

Denver Senior Photographer | Studio 4 Eleven Crew Member, Laura!

Miss Laura traveled to the Studio 4 Eleven studio for a mix of both studio and outdoor pictures. Well, we had a little difficulty with the key, so her studio-shoot quickly became an outdoor shoot. We did get the door open about 1/2 way through the session, but we had a blast outside! There are so many cool places to shoot around the studio, I was pleasantly surprised! We shot at about 1:00 PM, so the light was pretty bright, but we managed to find some shaded areas. You look beautiful Miss Laura! Hope you enjoy your pics.

Denver Senior Photography | 2011 Seniors!!

Some of you may know that a new branch of Keri Doolittle Photography is soon opening up! It is called Studio 4 Eleven. It is for high school seniors looking to have an exiting and unique senior picture experience. As of right now the only thing active is the Studio 4 Eleven FACEBOOK PAGE. I’d love for you to become a fan! I promise, a giveaway is in the near future! YEAH!! Anyhow, onto the pictures. Last Saturday, I took 4 seniors out to do a little mini-shoot in downtown Denver. We had a great time, although is was a bit COLD.
