Stiletto Women in Business Awards – Finalist

I am so excited to share this news!! I recently found out that I am a finalist in the Stiletto Woman in Business Awards. Out of nearly 300 submissions I am honored to be recognized in three categories…Artistic Entrepreneur of the Year, Blogger of the Year and Photography Business of the Year. Here is a link to all the finalists (congrats to all!): SWIBA Finalists. The winners in each category will be announced at the SWIBA conference on March 17th in Atlanta, GA. The conference is open for all to attend and it has some amazing guest speakers, so take a look.

To give you a brief background, Stiletto Woman Magazine was founded by Karlena Wallace in 2009 as a new media portal to empower everyday women. StilletoWoman.com launched a series of affiliate blogs designed to support our mission and the diverse lives of these women in business (Stiletto Business, Stiletto Money, Stiletto Health are just to name a few).

I am extremely honored to have been nominated and will keep you all posted with the outcome on March 17th!!!

Denver, CO Engagement Photographer…Brittany and Will

I met Brittany and Will this past weekend at a fantastic bar near downtown Denver called the Candlelight Tavern. This is where Brittany and Will met (at the JuteBox to be exact). They have some amazing beer specials, so if you are thirsty, hit up this bar! :-)

After a few shots at the bar and a quick clothing change, we headed downtown to get some shots down by the museum and meet up with Brittany’s parents to pick up their dog, Murphy. Murphy was an absolute rock star and also an integral part of their engagement (which has a soft-spot in my heart since my dog was part of our proposal, too).

B & W, I had a FANTASTIC time photographing your e-session and Tami is looking forward to shooting your June wedding at the Denver Athletic Club next year! Enjoy the pics!!

Red Rocks Engagement Photographer…Kim and Nick

This past weekend was absolutely BEAUTIFUL in Colorado!! Upper 70′s to Mid-80′s and sunny!! So, it was a perfect weekend for a few engagement sessions.

First up is Kim and Nick. Kim and Nick were actually runners-up from the Hitched in the Highlands race, which is put on each year by Happy Cakes Bakery. I donate a complimentary engagement session to the runner-up couple each year and was excited that Kim and Nick were my models for the evening. They even brought a very special prop…a ’65 Mustang (comment below if I am incorrect on that date, Kim). :-)

We shot up at Red Rocks and got some beautiful fall-colors…hope you all enjoy the images!!

Ft. Collins, CO Engagement Photographer…Mackenzie and Dominic

Mackenzie and Dominic are getting married next July at a beautiful venue called Cielo at Castle Pines. They hired Tami, my associate photographer, as their lead wedding shooter to help stay within their photography budget. Tami met up with them in Ft. Collins, CO, which is where they both attend school. From the looks of the images below, it was an AWESOME evening! CONGRATS to Mackenzie and Dominic, you two look amazing!!

Denver, CO Engagement Photographer…Cathi and Derek

I just LOVE this couple! They are so much fun, so full of energy and obviously are so in love! I met Cathi and Derek in downtown Denver this past weekend to shoot their engagement session. It was a perfect almost-fall day and we got some fantastic shots!

We started with a few portraits inside the Tattered Cover Bookstore and then walked around several blocks before ending at Union Station.

Cathi and Derek are getting married at a beautiful boutique hotel called The Inn at Cherry Creek next May, looking forward to photographing your big day! Enjoy the pics!

Cathi and I have a mutual in friend in common. I went to HS with Nancy and Cathi knows Nancy from an online knitting group, small world. So, we thought we’d take a picture of the two of us for Nancy! (nice photo skills Derek!)

We just love Alyssa! The boys love Alyssa! Once I started downloading all the images to my computer Ryland was just so excited to see Alyssa and Dan on the big screen. :-) See, Aylssa is one of our babysitters here at the Doolittle household. She is actually from Spokane, WA and I met her through Andrea and Craig’s wedding last year. She is so great with the boys, so the least I could do was to take some engagement pictures for them. They are getting married in beautiful Spokane, WA this September and I wish them both all the best!!

We met in Denver, CO (in between rain storms) and had a blast walking around a local park and taking some awesome pictures. They are both naturals in front of the camera, so my job was super easy! Hope you enjoy your images!!

San Francisco Engagement Photographer…Kate and Jesse

I absolutely love San Francisco! And, when the city is paired with sunshine, it is hard to beat!

I met Kate and Jesse down at The Warming Hut at Crissy Field about a week ago to do their engagement session. The live in the SF area, but are getting married in Denver this summer. We had a great time exploring the area, including a trip to the Wave Organ, which is where they got engaged. Although is was a little chilly outside, you just can’t beat that California sunshine, makes for some pretty beautiful photos!!

Wanted to give props to Veronica, who is a photo-board friend of mine…she helped out on the shoot and suggested some great locations. Thanks girl!

Phoenix Engagement Photographer…Daniela and Case

Daniela and Case were gracious enough to model for us during our mentoring session in Phoenix, AZ. They were SO MUCH FUN!! Seriously, we had them out in the middle of the desert, then had them tag along to the Scottsdale airport for some more pictures. They were upbeat, stylin’, funny and very photogenic!! Lone Tree, CO Engagement Photographer…Melissa and Tom

About a week ago I photographed Melissa and Tom down in the Lone Tree area of Colorado. They are getting married in Cape Cod this December and they were SO MUCH FUN to work with!! They are completely in love and very easy to take pictures of. We had a very laid back session and even played a little Valentine’s Scrabble game with a set I purchased on the way to the shoot. They were such good sports for me, thank you!!

Hair and Make-up done by the talented Rachael of Girls and Curls. Thank you Rachael, Melissa looked BEAUTIFUL!!!

Oh! And, I can’t forget about Chowder!! Chowder is their cute, little dog, he was sooooo good!!!

Barbados Engagement Photographer…Rashid and Rashida

We met Rashid and Rashida early on Thursday morning, in the lobby of the Barbados Hilton, to do a quick engagement session before their big day! Rashida and I have been chatting via email and instant-messenger for the past year, so it was great to finally meet them both in person. They both live in New York City and decided upon a destination wedding in Barbados. They both have family who either live or have-lived in Barbados, which is a BEAUTIFUL island in the Caribbean.

They are also expecting a little one, which made the photos extra-special!! So excited for you both!!

Barbados Wedding Photography…Behind the scenes (literally)

We met Rashid and Rashida early on Thursday morning to do their engagement session a couple days before their wedding at the Hilton Barbados. Mark came along and assisted me and got some behind-the-scene shots, literally, as in, you don’t see my face at all. :-) He did a good job at staying out of the scene.

It is always fun seeing working pics, so thank you Mark!

There were tons of big crabs on those rocks! I should have taken a picture of them. Oh well, guess I’ll have to go back. :-)

Dolly and Frank…Littleton, CO Engagement Photographer

Dolly and Frank were my high-bidders in the Wish Upon a Wedding auction that took place about a month ago. The money they spent on my engagement session will go to help someone who is terminally ill get married. Such a neat organization and a BIG thanks to Frank and Dolly for bidding!!!

We met up a few days ago in downtown Littleton on a semi-warm-ish day (about 45 degrees). Dolly must have been freezing in her dress, however, she was in good spirits. These two laughed the entire time, I had a blast photographing them! Best of luck to the both of you on your April wedding, it sounds fantastic!!

Recently Engaged? Hitched in the Highlands 2 RACE!!!

I can’t tell you how excited I am to, once again, be a part of this AWESOME race!! I am a HUGE fan of The Amazing Race, so this is right up my alley.

Last year I donated a couple engagement sessions to the runner ups of the competition and will do the same this year.

Steamboat Springs, CO Engagement Photographer…Melissa and Brian

I have had some pretty rad engagement sessions this season, including this one in Steamboat Springs, CO! This was not only my first time to Steamboat, but also my first e-session in the SNOW!! Phoenix didn’t have much snow, so I was MORE than excited to do a winter wonderland shoot.

Melissa and Brian are getting married next August at the top of the mountain in Steamboat. Melissa owns the Tap House Sports Grill and Brian loves to DJ! During our session we visited Fish Creek Falls, which can also been seen on your Coors beer cans. :-) We had a complete blast playing in the snow and I am so excited for their wedding next summer!

Quick clothing and location change! We stopped by Katie’s parents house to get a few inside images. You two look FABULOUS!!

One more stop to get a few snow shots in their snowboard gear. My 4 year old son, Ryland, was very concerned for Melissa. He saw the pictures of Brian coming down the slide and was very worried she was going to get run over. :-)

Boulder, CO Engagement Photographer…Katie and Jed

First of all, I wanted to give a quick props to my Cougs…they FINALLY WON this weekend!! Good job boys!

Ok, back to business. I met up with Katie and Jed about a week and a half ago, after rescheduling their session due to weather. All I have to say is GOOD THING we rescheduled. It was about 75 degrees and BEAUTIFUL in November. Hard to believe, but perfect for an engagement session. We started the evening off on Pearl Street in Boulder and ended at the beautiful Chautauqua Park at sunset!

Katie and Jed were so much fun to work with, we had lots of laughs and got some great images exploring the city. I am so excited to photography their wedding next June at Marabou Ranch, it is going to be stunning!! Enjoy the pics!

Denver, CO Engagement Photographer…Annie and Brant

OK, so, I met Annie on Craigslist. Yup, Craigslist! I was hunting for the perfect sofa to add to my collection of furniture props and found a BEAUTIFUL blue leather sofa about 2 weeks ago. After chatting via email about the sofa, Annie mentioned that her and Brant (her now husband) never got engagement pictures and it was something they had always wanted to do. Soooooo, how about a little swap? Sofa for engagement pictures? DONE!

Love it when a deal comes together. :-) After re-scheduling due to a VERY windy day in Denver, we shot last week on a GORGEOUS afternoon at the University of Denver, which is a beautiful campus right in the middle of the city and also where Annie and Brant met. I had an absolute blast with these two! Such stylin’ clothes, awesome personalities and they even brought a fantastic prop to use in the pics (yup, the blue sofa!).

Seattle, WA Engagement Photographer…Jen and Nick

Wow, what an awesome adventure! Last weekend I traveled up to Seattle to photograph Jen and Nick’s engagement session. It was a gloomy, rainy day in Seattle (which is normal), but we couldn’t have been happier to shoot inside Safeco Field (Home of the Seattle Mariners). Jen’s best friend, Rian, made a few calls to her childhood friend, Melissa, who was gracious enough to give us a tour of Safeco. BIG THANKS to both Rian and Melissa for making this happen!! My side of the family is HUGE baseball fans, so to step inside the ballpark was SO MUCH FUN!

We snapped as many photos as possible and then made a quick trip out to Jen and Nick’s wedding site, which is stunning! Another props to my sister (a.k.a. – second shooter) for capturing some detail shots of the ballpark, thanks Katie!

Jen and Nick, I had a FABULOUS time! Thank you for enduring the rain, you are rock stars and I can’t wait for your wedding! On with the pics!

Boulder, CO Engagement Photographer…Lindsay and Jeff

What a BEAUTIFUL night, BEAUTIFUL location and a super fun couple!! Lindsay scouted out this location up in Boulder and it was PERFECT!! They brought their dog along, Garth, and he was awesome!

If you recognize Lindsay, she modeled for me in the spring for my style shoot. She is so much fun to work with and I am so excited about her upcoming wedding with Jeff!!

Fort Collins Engagement Photographer…Kelly and Dave!

What a fun evening!! This past Sunday I drove up to beautiful Fort Collins, CO to photograph Kelly and Dave’s engagement session. This is where Dave proposed to Kelly (totally out-of-the-blue, I might add) and also where they both went to school. Kelly had some fantastic ideas about where to go in this quaint little town and we had a blast! At about 7 PM, prime field-shooting light, the clouds darkened and the rain POURED down! Naturally, we took a little break in the local pub and got a couple beers until the skies parted. We rushed to the nearest field and had about 6 minutes to shoot and WOW!! LOVE the corn pics!

I am so excited for your October wedding at The Club at Pradera, it will be fantastic!! Enjoy the images!!
