I
remember when I was trying to plan the wardrobe for our engagement
photos. I spent hours trying to come up with the perfect outfits that
made me look adorable and him dashing, all while representing us as a
couple. The more thought you put into your photos beforehand, the more
you’ll get out of them! Here are some tips I learned along the way:

Show your Personality
Are
you die-hard Bronco’s fans? Wear your jerseys! Do you enjoy cooking
together? Tie on your aprons. These aren’t photos of just any random
couple. They should capture your relationship at this moment in time, so
show who you are as a couple! My hubby and I are from the Midwest, so
we pulled on our cowboy boots and went country![]()
Color and Layering
You
don’t want to look like two strangers who just met 5 minutes before
your photo shoot, but you also don’t want to be too matchy-matchy.
Coordinating is the key. Pick a color palette of two or three colors,
then get creative! Bring in some pattern and texture, and layer clothes
to add depth: Jeans, striped shirt, and sweater on him. Skirt, tank top
and floral cardigan on her. And don’t forget those accessories! Headbands, belts, scarves and jewelry can add tons of personality and interest to your photos.

Multiple Options
Bring
a few different “looks”. Dressed-up: Sexy dress, stiletto heels, and
bold jewelry for her. Dress pants, polished shoes and cuff links for
him. Casual: Comfy jeans, sports tees, cardigans, and Chucks. And of
course something that’s uniquely you.
Look for Inspiration
Pull
out those magazines and start flipping through ‘em! Look at
advertisements for ideas. Jump online and check out your favorite
store’s website. Search Pinterest for a wealth of eye candy. Then copy
them! Companies spend piles of money on stylists to put together outfits
to make their clothes look great. So why not look to them for
inspiration?

Help your Man
We
love our guys, but let’s face it: They’re not the most fashion forward
creatures on this planet. They just aren’t wired like we are. So take
the reigns and help your man look as gorgeous as he can be. Go shopping
with him. Assemble outfits for him. He’ll appreciate your help. Just
don’t force him into skinny jeans if he’s not that kind of guy. Make
sure he’s comfortable and you’ll get a nice big smile from him on picture day![]()

going to look back on your engagement photos for years to come. I would
even say that I’ve printed and posted my engagement photos more than my
wedding photos, because they’re a better representation of our everyday
selves. So why not invest the same attention into your look? Getting
