My brother would LOVE your help for a great cause…

Written by Steve Gleason

Hi All,
I am hoping you’ll forgive the impersonal email. I am writing to ask for your support- as the Neighborhood Story Project (a rockin’ non-profit I have supported from it’s inception in 2005) conducts its first fundraiser in nearly five years. Check out their website. Neighborhood Story Project
So, it is a little late notice but…

On May 17 (this weekend), I am going to be writing the pencil down to the nub as I help the NSP raise money to continue the work it does- working with New Orleanians to tell and publish the stories of our neighborhoods and city.
The write-athon is a celebration of…. writing! Postcards, letters, unsent emails, the great Steve Gleason autobiography…. All in all, I will be nose to the grindstone for three hours writing- and being sponsored by YOU!!

This is how you can help
1) Sponsor me in the Write-a-thon. You can sponsor me through my firstgiving page- First Giving/Stephen Gleason It is a very easy process!! Whatever you can give is a huge help- and will be well-used.
The event is May 17th but donations are available until August. My goal is to raise $3,000 for my friends at the NSP. Anything you give will help meet the goal, and of course is tax deductible.

FYI…The Neighborhood Story Project is now in our fifth year- and have published eight bestselling books, more than 30 posters about New Orleans, and have paid royalties of more than $25,000. We work with high-school students and sponsor them to write their stories as they grow up in New Orleans. We are now working with five students from John McDonogh, who will be finishing and publishing their books in the fall. I don’t want to go on and on, but I am seriously proud to be a part of the NSP- and I hope you will considering supporting us.

In closing, I’d like to thank you for considering my request- and I look forward to writing you a thank you postcard!!!

By the way… I recently was admitted to Tulane Business School. Sweet!!
Forward to anyone you know who would like to join in on the fun, or who pays the bills:)
