I have a lovely second-shooter this season…her name is Erica Velasco. She is a very talented photographer with a BIG career in front of her. I wanted you all to get to know Erica a little better, so I came up with a few questions for her to answer. If you would like to book her for a session, check out her blog and shoot her an email!!
What are some of your favorite blogs to visit?
I love visiting pifphoto.com, Marta Locklear, Pink Ink Studios and Keri’s blog of course!
How did you get into photography?
I started by taking a class in high school and I loved it. I took a break after college but picked it back up on a trip to Ireland and haven’t put down my camera since then!
What is in your camera bag?
A lot! I have two bags now. One bag carries all my lenses (50mm, 28-135mm, 28-75mm), flash and memory cards. The other one carries my backup camera, extra batteries, chargers, gum, wallet and my girlie stuff like lip gloss =)
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
This is a tough one. Do I choose somewhere I’ve been and love or somewhere new….I think new….So I choose Tibet.
Are you a native of Phoenix? If not, where do you hail from?
No I’m not. I’m originally from Chicago, a south suburb called Orland Park. I went to school my last few years downtown and lived in Lincoln Park. I moved to Phoenix four years ago.
What are some of your photography goals?
Well, my goal is to quit my full-time job and make this my only job. Imagine doing what you love for a living =) I’d like to grow my business to include more family and children portraits. I also dabble in fashion/editorial photography, so a big goal of mine is to shoot fashion photography for an Arizona magazine.
What is your favorite food?
Italian food! I love cream based pasta’s with pancetta or procutto in it. Mmmmmm.
What are some of your loves in life or hobbies?
I love to travel. My boyfriend and I love to either take road trips in the U.S. or stay at an all inclusive in the Caribbean. We want to hit all the states before we start to travel to Europe again. We just came back from South Carolina and Disney World! I had never been before so it was really fun. The Caribbean is calling….
Do you have any bad habits?
Haha, well I bite my nails too much. And I can let the sink get too full of dishes on the occasion…
What is the best advice you have ever gotten?
Probably to stay focused and to not say something and not follow through with it.
